Compose Collection

Compose Collection, developed by Compose IT, enhances the IBM Netcool platform through a suite of modular service tools. Key features include:

  • User-friendly modules for customization without programming expertise
  • AI-based event classification and action suggestions
  • Dynamic Event Manager (DEM) for simplified alarm management
  • Event routing to specific teams based on rules
  • Maintenance Scheduler for planned changes and maintenance windows
  • Customizable dynamic dashboards for data visualization
  • Predefined reports for operational safety and efficiency
  • Automated self-monitoring of the Netcool platform’s health

Dynamic Event Manager

Dynamic Event Manager (DEM) is a versatile application designed to simplify alarm management and enhance operational efficiency through its user-friendly GUI and automation engine. Key features include:

  • Event Classification: GUI-based settings for alarm filtering, grouping, and enrichment with optional AI capabilities for intelligent rule classification.
  • Event Routing: Routes events to relevant teams based on predefined rules and service profiles, ideal for DevOps scenarios.
  • Maintenance Scheduler: Registers planned changes and maintenance windows with options for reoccurring or temporary setups, adaptable to different time zones.
  • Automation: Enables complex logic for error isolation, triage, and resolution using database and script-based configurations.

The DEM streamline operations and includes features like event correlation, ticket routing, and reclassification, making it a comprehensive solution for managing IT operations.

Dynamic Dashboard

Dynamic Dashboard enhances Omnibus WebGUI by allowing users to easily create dashboards through drag-and-drop functionality. It features predefined widgets, such as GIS-based map visualization, and supports theme customization to suit individual needs. Dashboards can be tailored per application, source, or customer.

Reports and Visualization

The Reports and Visualization module offers customizable reports and a Dynamic sidebar to enhance operational safety, response times, and follow-up opportunities. Key features include:

  • Reports
  • History Search Tool
  • Dynamic Sidebar: A tool added to the Event list for alarm visualization, historical context, event journal, and metrics (with Compose Collection Integration Module).
  • Event Knowledgebase: Allows linking knowledgebase articles to events for easily accessible troubleshooting information.

Additionally, the Event Knowledgebase can be connected to generative AI (LLM) to automate error descriptions and provide troubleshooting suggestions, enhancing alarm operator support. Data can be anonymized or imported/exported for security compliance through the Compose Collection AI Connector.

AI Operator

AI Operator automates routine tasks in network surveillance, including event management, correlation, notifications, and escalations, reducing or replacing human intervention. It offers no-code scenario configuration and supports various actions such as grouping events, ticket creation, triage, and synthetic root cause event creation. It also enables event escalation through multiple communication channels.

AI Capabilities

  • Machine Learning of Operator Behaviour: Automatically identifies patterns in operator actions and creates automation scenarios for user review.
  • Predictive Alarm Situations: Utilizes a graph database to predict upcoming alarm scenarios and enables proactive measures.
  • AI Pilot: Provides action suggestions for alarm operators using an LLM (Large Language Model), with an option for anonymized queries through the AI Connector module.

 

Self-Monitoring

The Self-Monitoring module allows Netcool administrators to have an automized view on Netcool health status, avoiding many manual checks and potentially reducing the size of team required to manage the Netcool platform.

Features:

  • Automated Monitoring: Regularly checks Netcool platform and external services to ensure operational health and reduce troubleshooting time.
  • Discovery Agent: Detects and monitors Netcool applications and system-specific services with minimal manual intervention.
  • Status Overview: Provides a quick view of platform health, with options to group hosts for production and test environments.
  • Device Overview: Stores historical data on CPU, disk, memory, and latency for detailed performance analysis.
  • Configurable Topology: A wizard-driven feature to define topology views, with colour-coded status indicators.
  • Status History: Enables searching and filtering of test results and status changes.
  • Wizards: Simplifies the configuration of topology views, tests, and monitoring objects.
  • Software Inventory: Lists and stores software details for each Netcool application, with automatic inventory detection.

Integration Module

The Compose Collection Integration module consists of several components having a single aim to facilitate the elements integration process with the Netcool platform.

Summary of key features:

  • Event Proxy: Converts alarms into webhooks for management, supports secure authentication via API keys or OAuth 2.0.
  • Metric Center: Displays metrics from Performance Management tools like SevOne directly in the Dynamic Sidebar, with options for forwarding metrics to other IBM AIOps functions.
  • Compose Collection API (CC-API): Facilitates communication with the alarm system and Compose Collection for tasks like rule creation, alarm searches, and data exports.
  • CIM Client: Allows secure interaction with devices in protected zones through a safe agent-based solution without compromising security protocols.
  • Custom Probe Template: Provides a Node.js-based framework for creating robust, redundant custom probes in a uniform manner.

 

 

 

AI Connector

Compose AI Connector brings the power of generative AI (Large Language Models) to the Compose Collection product suite.

Key features:

  • The AI Connector integrates generative AI into Compose Collection using IBM Watsonx.ai technology.
  • Functions include anonymizing data, alarm classification, and generating reports and troubleshooting suggestions.
  • It runs within a controlled tenant at IBM’s Frankfurt datacentre.
  • Key use cases include dynamic event management, knowledgebase visualisation, and AI-driven assistant actions for alarms.
