AI requires order
It is more important than ever to have control over the underlying to make things work higher up the value chain. Everything should be data-driven and AI should help us save time and money and automate for us. A prerequisite for becoming data-driven is that the data you want to use to make decisions and act on is actually correct. The best way to ensure this is to manipulate or change the underlying data as little as possible.
What we do with all the data will be the next step. Where should we put it? How should we use it and how is it used to do smart things? Data lakes, or no-sql databases, have become increasingly useful as a storage place for large amounts of data and to make data usable and visualized for analysis or reporting.
We ourselves currently use Elastic as a storage place for everything from alarms, metrics, events and case statistics, etc., but the area of use is gigantic. Using the Elastic Logstash feature, we can filter out irrelevant data to reduce data volumes and then visualize everything using Elastic’s graphical presentation layer/user interface called Kibana. The great thing about Elastic is that we are not locked into just one visualization tool but can also use other tools such as Grafana for visualization. Data in Elastic can be read by virtually any tool.
